I only have the address where he lives. I don’t know if he has kids, likes cats or dogs. Maybe he’s a happy guy or moody, I can’t be completely sure. When he visits I am never awake and I don’t know what type of car he drives. But for 25 years I have been sending him a check for Christmas. It’s easy to do because every holiday he sends me a Christmas card, so I write a nice note in it and send it back with a check inside. Even during the plan demic he never stopped coming to my home in the wee hours of the early AM regardless of how good or bad the weather was.

You see Carlos delivers my newspaper. It used to be 7 days a week, now it’s just Wednesdays and Sundays. There’s not much in the paper I haven’t already heard on the radio or watched on the internet or the TV, but it’s a tactile tradition that I enjoy while sipping morning coffee.
