I woke up the other morning to what we in Florida call a cold spell, and it had to have dipped down to 65 degrees🥶 (I can actually hear our Northern and worldwide friends laughing 😆but that’s how we think here ). For whatever reason my “low tire pressure” notification was blaze orange on the dash and the front right tire was really low.
I always go to the same tire place down the street and look for Russel. A scruffy, grumpy ginger 👨🦰 who always looks hungover and has that face that’s screaming the Jimmy Buffet song, 🎵 “I wish I was somewhere other than here.” Russel said it was probably our “cold snap” and he had me slowly backing up the car and cranking the wheel to reveal there was no puncture wound, maybe this happened just to create this story! 🚗
Anywhoo… a weather-worn Russel topped off air in each tire and as he leaned into my passenger window to say “you’re all set” I handed him 5 singles 💸💸💸💸💸. “There’s no charge for air.” he quipped. I said I understand that Russell, this is for your time, effort and expertise. He never even said thank-you but it didn’t matter to me because I can generally read people like a book and not all books are good or have a happy ending! 📖
Folks, if someone hands you a tip or money or an unexpected gift, just say, “Thanks!” and know that the giver could be as blessed by the action as the receiver. 🙏 Time, effort and expertise should equal money, and we’re all here to provide a product or service for, or to others.
