Funny spelling for the word “on”, but the brand of the TV we have is ONN and after 7 flawless years we saw the black screen of death! ⬛
Took it to our local TV repair shop just in case, fingers crossed it took them about a week to “diagnose it” only to call me with the resonance of a used car salesman saying, “Back lighting is what you need, it’s 400 dollars.” 🤑
I said, “I only paid that much for it 7 years ago!” 🤦🏻♂️ He droned on and on about how it was a nice TV, you should fix it, Walmart warranties suck, yada yada and at that point I had that creepy feeling I said, “No thanks, ✋ we’ll send someone to pick it up”.
We thought we’d get a 2nd opinion and waited until after the 2nd Florida Hurricane to schedule an on-site repairman who charges $65 to have a look-see, if it can be fixed for say $100 total, then the 65 goes towards that! Cool, let’s do that! 👍👍
The day before this guy is due to come see it, my gf says, “Have you tried plugging the TV in?” 🔌 … “Nope!” She got up without a word and went out to the blue room and I didn’t hear anything for a few minutes and then suddenly I’m thinking, ‘this house has had a lot of weird shenanigans, I hope she’s not inside the TV 📺 like that girl in the Amityville Horror movie’! Then I heard a holler of “It’s working!” All she did was plug it in and apparently all the TV repair shop did was tighten things up. Did they know it was working before the $400 phone repair quote? Who knows, but what a cute funny story where all’s well that ends well.
