TGIWednesday: Damn’t Kevin!

I know all my clients named Kevin will open this email and go, “Oh my gosh, what did I do?”! 

It’s actually about my brother Kevin who looked like Tom Cruise, only taller – and women clung to him as he walked down the sidewalk.  Every time I see one of Tom’s movies  I’m reminded of Kevin.  He was smart, witty and always down for a party.

He, like so many celebrities, died way too young; actors Brandon Lee and Heath Ledger, race car driver Gaston Chevrolet and even Roman Emperor Caligula died at age 28.  As a family, you never get over it, you just learn to cope and live with it.

When someone tells me over the phone  or in person that they’re not all that addicted  this or that or the other thing and my brother appears, I know immediately what the real truth is. 

My father and I did all we could to accommodate Kevin including purchasing  him a new white Jeep.  My father had the title as James OR Kevin instead of AND.  My brother signed over the title to a Jeep worth tens of thousands to his drug dealer for $500  and our lawyer said, “It’s legal. There’s nothing you can do”.  And that’s how important it is to cross your T’s and dot your I’s so that you don’t experience financial losses.  Words and wordsmithing matters in contracts!
