It wasn’t but maybe a month of dating when I asked my new girlfriend, “So where are we and where do you see this going?” She gave me one of those looks that said I just told Sparky the dog, “We’re taking you to the vet”. There was a neck twist and a scowl that didn’t quite fit with the statement, “We have the love.” It was her way of saying she had made up her mind, and we were a couple now and everything was fine without needing explanation.
I believe most men need to be hit over the head with a Nerf foam baseball bat for it all to sink in. Fast forward 10 years later and I am gobsmacked that we’re still together!
