I dated a dentist for nearly a year so by sheer cast off, I learned more than I needed to know about teeth . One day last week at LA Fitness I had the weirdest sensation in my two front teeth area. My mind went dark in a hurry. Gum disease, needing a crown or a root canal (not that I’d ever get one). No matter how I fished and prayed it was still there as a constant sensation that didn’t belong in my teeth or gums. I kept getting that it was mechanical or a thing.
So then I went darker but it did not show up as alien or a probe, phew! Finally with a mirror and dental floss I figured it out. It was a tiny bristle from the toothbrush that randomly wedged its way in there. Catastrophe avoided, and the parade of the unimaginable left! Teeth and gums are all about organization . So remember that!
A 2005 long term study at Cornell revealed that 85% of what we worry about never happens. Out of 15% of the remainder, 12% will turn out better than we had thought. The other 3% is what went wrong! That means that 97% of things we’re catastrophizing in our thoughts will never happen!
Instead of the worrying endlessly around worst case scenario, run loops of the best case scenario! That 3% is a miniscule measurement for us to lay around and worry about. So keep the faith through the holiday season and into 2026.
