You know how nautical we are, so not surprisingly, an interesting article caught my attention (you can click to read the entire article below.) Basically if you’re at a desk most of the time you wind up leaning forward like a curled up shrimp! Even my local chiropracter calls folks that are on their phones constantly as suffering from “tech neck” with all sorts of problems!
Sitting and staring at technology are both unnatural positions for our body that originated from hunter’s, gatherers and fisherman from long ago. You must take frequent breaks at least every half hour from the tech fish trap!
Get up and do stretches , go for a walk, prepare a snack or do yoga backward moves ! One I’ll do for carpal tunnel is to place your palm up on a wall , now twist your wrist 180 degrees so your fingers are pointing towards the floor. Slowly and gently move your body backwards and forwards from the wall while pressing your palm and flexing your wrist. This will stretch out your hands and wrists and create the opposite poised movement of typing!
This whole month we are focusing on love . There is no other place to start than self-love. Instead of treating your body like a Long John Silver’s drive-thru , treat it more like a holy temple ! Most folks I speak with daily are not “on board for healing now” which we change to positive YES! Likewise, everyone needs to break a sweat daily doing something physical! Not 2 or 3 days a week at the gym, 7 days a week!. Eat cleaner and “drink more high quality H2O”, as they say in The Waterboy˙movie.
